Haggis Ingredients:

1 sheep’s stomach bag
1 sheep’s pluck - liver, lungs and heart
3 onions
1 cup beef Suet
1 cup  oatmeal
salt and black pepper
a pinch of cayenne
150mls of stock/gravy

An interesting fact about Haggis is that it is the old Scottish version of mac&cheese - a simple food for peasants.  You could celebrate the tradition by making a meat pie, or better yet, a meat turnover version to surprise your family.

I love finding things like this to add to my books, but not everything makes it. For example, the proper way to make a plaid was for the women to weave a plaid that was 12′ long (finished) and work it between their hands. The women had a great time laughing and joking as they pounded the wool.  When it was to dry, they wet it again - with their urine.  That is one of those little pieces of information I left out of the novel.
