Wordpress.org Banned Again

The Brazilian blogosphere has not quite yet recovered from its last fright and there is already another threat on the way: a blanket ban on blogs hosted on Wordpress.com after a judicial court passed an order to close down a specific blog. The offending blog has already been deleted and cleaned up.
The question is ‘what responsibility do the hosts have for the content on their platforms?’ The answer is yes, and no.
I believe that if we are to end white slavery (including wife selling), child porn, terrorism, and hate mongering then we need to all take a stance and accept some responsibility. Wordpress.com is a place where bloggers can have their say – but that should be limited.
I’ve read a lot of different opinions on this topic over the last few days. I agree that bloggers should have a place where they can have their say. But does that include promoting any activity which causes pain for another. But I don’t think that 3million bloggers should be banned because one blogger talks about abusive sex or engage in illegal practices. Wordpress was also banned in Turkey, Cina, and other countries.
About 1 million Brazilians host their blogs on Wordpress. Com. Wordpress ranks 27 th most viewed site in Brazil. Previously, Youtube was banned in Brazil. This brings me to wonder if there is more ‘at play’ under the surface.
