Do you send your teens to youth retreats? You should. Mine goes on 2 a year and he is always pumped and animated when he comes back. He just returned from one at a local university - full of stories.

We were able to share two hours while he told me how the security guards made a game of kids coming back late from curfew, and skits, playing sports with new friends, learning different cultures, and expanding his horizons. 

I’ve used some of his experiences in my stories and novels. I find that the best characters come from personal experiences… of others. That is because it gives me different reactions, actions, and views for my characters. Even so, whether you harvest from your teen’s experiences or not, a youth retreat is always worth the money.
